About Dana

I work with adults grappling with life’s challenges such as anxiety, depression, finding meaning, grief, loneliness and isolation, relationships, self-discovery, societal pressures, and transitions. My goal is to help clients explore their questions and issues with an open mind in a supportive environment and find clarity and peace through the process.

My approach is collaborative, empathetic, authentic, and curious. My therapeutic practice is based on an existential approach and integrates aspects of cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic theories, depending on what most resonates with each client and their unique needs. The basic assumptions of existential psychotherapy include that it is possible to make sense of life, we each have the capacity to make informed decisions about life and our attitude towards it, difficult issues will not be resolved by being avoided, and we are ultimately able to learn from life and transcend problems.

In sessions, you will be encouraged to share what is top of mind and explore issues you wish to go deeper on. I will seek to better understand your world, your perspective, and your experience so that together, we can try to make sense, find meaning, or discover a path forward that is helpful to you.

I am working towards my doctorate in counselling psychology and psychotherapy (DCPsych) through Middlesex University in the UK. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Acadia University and a Master of Science from the London School of Economics. I am a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), British Association for Counselling and Psychology (BACP), and the British Psychological Society (BPS). In tandem with my psychology studies and clinical practice, I work with organizations going through transformation and change on their people strategy, capabilities, and culture.

Cancellation Policy

When you book a session, your clinician reserves their time for you. In the event that you will be unable to keep an appointment, please notify your clinician at least 24 hours in advance, so that someone else may utilize the time. Similarly, when your clinician is unable to keep the appointment with you, they will give you more than a 24-hour notice and rebook to another date and time.

In the case whereby you are unable to provide 24-hour cancellation notice (e.g., you cancel an appointment on the day of the appointment [i.e., the same day] or do not show up for a scheduled appointment), unless for emergency reasons (e.g., medical or family emergencies), you will be charged the fee for your session and payment will be required at your next scheduled session.

Note: Employee Assistance Programs and other insurance-based programs will not reimburse you, the client, for missed appointment costs.
