About Shimul

I work with adults and teens who are navigating anxiety, difficult life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem challenges, and trauma. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns they want to break. Whether you are coping with stress, identity concerns, cultural pressures, or the weight of past experiences, my goal is to offer a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally sensitive. I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), and mindfulness-based practices. In sessions, you can expect a gentle exploration of your thoughts, emotions, and behavioural patterns while we build practical tools for grounding, emotional regulation, and meaningful change. When working with couples, I focus on strengthening emotional connection, communication, and safety in the relationship.

Together, we will work at your pace to make sense of your experiences, strengthen your inner resilience, and create lasting shifts toward clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Toronto and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and have experience supporting clients in hospital, community, and private practice settings.

Cancellation Policy

When you book a session, your clinician reserves their time for you. In the event that you will be unable to keep an appointment, please notify your clinician at least 24 hours in advance, so that someone else may utilize the time. Similarly, when your clinician is unable to keep the appointment with you, they will give you more than a 24-hour notice and rebook to another date and time.

In the case whereby you are unable to provide 24-hour cancellation notice (e.g., you cancel an appointment on the day of the appointment [i.e., the same day] or do not show up for a scheduled appointment), unless for emergency reasons (e.g., medical or family emergencies), you will be charged the fee for your session and payment will be required at your next scheduled session.

Note: Employee Assistance Programs and other insurance-based programs will not reimburse you, the client, for missed appointment costs.
